NOTE: This “About Me” page is about to change in the future.
Hello, my name is Angela McCall. I have a degree in Commercial Art. I am a designer, internet marketer, blogger, mother, and a friend. I have been a designer in the area of Silicon Valley and San Joaquin Valley since 1990. (NOTE: I have My Resume and you can print it.)
I have work for Apple Inc., NASA, Panorama Productions, Expo Advertising, PhotoDeals Magazine, KOPS Newspaper, and more. From newsletter, magazine & newspaper, manual book & design, I have done them all. I’ve done all kinds of execution from print design and interactive media except television.

When recession and depression hits the economy in 1998 I thought I would change a different direction. I was working for Expo Advertising at the time and our contract got terminated by the biggest supermarket here in town and so I got discouraged and quit Graphic Design.
My ex-husband is a R.N. and he suggested I should go into the medical field. So I left graphic design for a while and enrolled back in college. I took the prerequisites courses I needed in Nursing. My ex-husband said, “Nurses never gets laid off and you can go anywhere in the world and still find a job.”
By the way, this is me when I was a Certified Nursing Assistant. My ex-husband said that I should be certified and try this line of work to see if I really like Nursing.
While I love the uniform, it makes me feel like a pre-med student and I love interacting with my patient, I’m not sure if I’m really meant to be in the hospital.
After studying Respiratory Therapy program, I also took another 40-hour training being in ARF (Adult Residential Facility) administration and graduated on it. Besides the CNA diploma, I also acquired the business license to start my own business.
My girlfriend needed help in her business at the time and so she asked me if I can work on an “on call” basis. And so I did. At the time, she asked me if I would be interested in taking over the business. She said she was making six figure a year. And she didn’t have to tell me that because I know. They taught all that information in school.
For having 6 clients and each client you are receiving $2,000+…just figure the math. That’s how much Uncle Sam will pay you if you have 6 ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) clients in your facility. Your facility should be the house you own.
Now again, I asked myself, “Is this the type of work I’d like to do for the rest of my life?” I have taken care all of these clients and my girlfriend said, “You have the potential to run this business!” Although I am thoroughly convinced that I could, I’m still not sold if this is really the line of work I would like to have for the rest of my life.
Remember, I was persuaded to want to take Nursing because of the money. “If money is your motivation to be a nurse,” said the Director of Nursing at Fresno City College, “then you are in the wrong profession.” Indeed. I tried to pretend that money wasn’t really my motivation. Because of the bad economy, my ex-husband completely convinced me that I would never get laid-off in Nursing.
Anyway, I thought my ex-husband’s suggestion was a great idea! And so I waited for more than two years to get into the Nursing program but I couldn’t get in. There was a long waiting list. So I end up being in a Respiratory Therapy program but after I got into the program, it wasn’t really my cup of tea.
I wasn’t passionate about it like he does.
My passion is to work on computer doing social media and graphic design. After finding out the opportunity on paid social media jobs online, my business direction changed. With the rapid changes of technology such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Google Plus…I can be anywhere in the world and still find a job like he does! But my story doesn’t stop here…
In the year 2008, we had another recession. This time it hits the market real bad. Thousands of people were laid off. Some even committed suicide because they couldn’t bring the bread and butter or don’t know how to make ends meet. The unemployment office became very popular for the unemployed. Lines after lines. And so after quitting Respiratory program, now what do I do?
I have left my portfolio in the attic…
Mind you, I really thought I was going to be in the medical field for good. And who needs a portfolio when I can work in a hospital and make money, right? No. Big mistake. I can’t find my portfolio! My portfolio looks just like that black portfolio that I carry with me all the time. By the way, here’s one of the example below what I did for clients in the past.
I’m showing you this black portfolio I used to carry with me is now gone!
Being absent in the Commercial Art industry for quite sometime is a big change for me. I didn’t know the latest technology. Graphic Design applications such as QuarkXPress and Pagemaker were my number one applications I used to use then when I was contracting the newspaper job, and when I came back to school to “brush up” my knowledge, I found out they no longer exist.
QuarkXPress is still around, some businesses are still using them but they are not as popular as Adobe InDesign, the application that replaced Pagemaker!
So, here I was back in college. I took Beginning Website Design, Visual Communication, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop. Why? So I can update my skills. That was the only reason why I did it but I’m glad I took these courses coz I’ve just learned a better tool to use for my graphic designs. I feel more confident.
The technology of today makes life easier!
Anyway, I’d like you to make yourself feel comfortable as if you’re talking to a friend. This is my personal blog so you can loosen your tie or kick off your shoes and get yourself a cup of tea or something.
I’m here to connect and to meet new friends. And although I have been on the Internet since the late 90’s, remember I have put a hold onto my Graphic Design career for awhile just so I could go to the Respiratory Therapy program. And now that I quit doing that and drop the medical field, I’m back doing at what I’m really good at, graphic designs and social media!
My hobbies are: reading, writing, singing, playing guitar, photography. On the video above, I’m singing “The Power Of Your Love”. So everything on this video are my photography.
Besides Photography, I also love Ballroom dancing. I love it because I think it’s very elegant, passionate, and classic. Before Ballroom, I used to dance Hawaiian. Me and my daughter Rachel used to be in the polynesian club dancing hawaiian. We have performed before 800 people during our recital together. But for some odd reason, we didn’t continue doing this. And now, I have my new love for ballroom dancing.
And last but not least, I’m passionate about music. I love the oldies. On this video I sing “Crazy” by Patsy Cline (Cover). I remember when we were little, mom used to put us to sleep singing this song and so I have grown to hear this song time after time. When my brothers and sisters were small, I used to put them to sleep singing this song too. I’m a fan of Patsy Cline. I love the old classic “blue” songs. So this is one of the songs I have been playing in my guitar for years.
In addition, here is another video I created about my pets. Video making is one of my hobbies. I love taking videos of my pets & families and execute them either on iMovie or Final Cut Pro. I am always enthused making these movies because I know it will be a nice memento someday!
Anyway, I hope this tells you a little bit about myself. I love meeting all kinds of people around the world, get to know them, and make new friends. So thank you for stopping by.
Have a blessed day!
