Since I have been here for for quite some time now blogging, I think it is about time to set some rules on commenting. You know the first time I have blogged, I have gotten 2,700 comments in 3 days!
I thought I was doing real well but little did I know, it was all SPAM and all of these comments have faceless gravatars and so now my number one rule is…
• Your gravatar is the Key
Without a gravatar your comment will not stay either. Sometimes I okay the comment without a gravatar because I know they are newbies. However, I made this link easier for you and give you an easy step-by-step instruction. Please put your face photo and not a cartoon, or a building, or an animal.
I want to connect to the real person…
Now, let me tell you that might enlighten your mind. If you use other photo than your face I am more suspicious when you use your company’s logo, photo of a building, or photo of an animal. Other bloggers will not take you seriously either. This is a social media and this is about network relationship. Therefore, I would like to relate to a real person and not some building or your company’s logo. Just simply you.
Make a note I know when you are authentic. Please don’t waste your time to create a gravatar, create a fake name, and a bogus website. Even if you have a gravatar…say you even mentioned my name and made a real comment but your website is fake, your comment will not be approved and you will be in SPAM folder. Plus, you’ll be blacklisted.
• You have to speak English
I have gotten some comments that were in chinese or greek language. If I speak chinese or greek, I would have written my blog in chinese or greek. It is completely pointless. It’s a waste of your energy and a waste of my time. I alreayd know that you are spamming coz I don’t speak neither of these language!
• Do not link to your product
I am not here to buy it nor I am here to support your marketing strategy or encourage you to do such thing. This is a blog and I want to connect to real bloggers. Not some spammers who is only interested in promoting his product. I think it is rude for you to shove your product in my throat. This is even worse than cold calling marketing. So get the idea I only support a fella blogger.
• You have to leave your real name
There is a space in down below that asks your name. Please do not put your company’s name, or the product you sell, or the affiliate link of some sort, and what not. If you cannot leave your real name then you must be here for the wrong reason. You are just a spammer who’s interested only in getting backlinks.
• If you are here just for backlinks please do not comment
Please do not flatter me with words like “you have the best blog” or “your post is terrific” and all kinds of gimmick. It’s okay to say this if you have more to say than just this. But to say those lines ALONE are not okay. These are the lines of spammers indeed. I am on social media because I honestly want to create a solid relationship with my readers, friends, and clients. What I mean by this are the ones who communicate with me back and forth on my blog or vice versa–on their blog.
My friends who gives me nice compliments are fine. I’m referring to spammers who have nothing to say about my posts and they automate their comments in that one-liner comment, or have automatic bots who will say all these nice things automatically just to spam me and get backlinks from my site, these are the ones I’m talking about.
• If your comment doesn’t have anything to do with my post it gets deleted
Coz I know you are only here for backlinks and doesn’t want to create network relationship with me. Please do me a favor, don’t leave me a comment coz it will be trashed. If I detected you’re a spammer…your IP address, email address, and URL will be blacklisted.
If you see some faceless commenters here, these are the friends who I know in real life, some are families, and some are friends I have established relationship already long time before this “Commenting Rules” were written and so they get to stay. But for those of you who I don’t know yet and have not establish relationship with me yet, you have to go by the rules.
If I do not see you have a gravatar and you are not aware of it, say you are from the Blogger for instance, I will point you to make a gravatar to this link. If you refuse to do so, I’m afraid I cannot let your comment stay in my blog. You do not have to have a WordPress blog in order to create a GRAVATAR, you can use this in all of the platform you encountered on the Internet.
So it is good to have it. I encourage you to have it.
And if you are a new blogger, I understand that you don’t have a gravatar and not aware of this. Again you need to go to this link and create your gravatar. It takes less than 5 minutes.
Make sure you use the “same email address” on your WordPress blog admin and your WordPress Gravatar’s Profile. Here’s how you do it:
Dashboard > Users > underneath your name click edit > Enter the same email address you used from Gravatar’s Profile on that “Email (required)” section on WordPress and that should do it.
• Before you get whitelisted…
You know I work so hard on my blog and the next thing I need is you have disappeared in the world of blogosphore within a short period of time after you have made comments to my blog and left me your CommentLuv links. And so I’ve been through approving people after 3-comments then they get whitelisted. But not this time. I’m tired of broken links.
So before you get whitelisted in my blog, you have to have at least 20-approved comments before I allow your links to show in my blog. So on my Commenting Rules, you have to be a reliable blogger that will not disappear on me in 6 months or a year. I have to get too know you first. If I know your blog is legit, you get whitelisted even before you reach 20-comments.
But I have to get to know you first.
I’m tired of cleaning broken links and you have to prove to me that you have been blogging for awhile and that you are serious in staying in the world of blogosphere.
If you have more than one blog, enter that SAME email address to all your blogs admin and your gravatar on that upper right hand corner will always shows up. That’s how you can tell if you have done it right.
• You cannot enter your friend’s website…
I thought I have to update my Commenting Rules here. You should know this by now that I only promote Bloggers and not the whole entire world out there who has a website.
First of all, if you’re going to leave a link on my CommentLuv, you better put your own website or blog and *not* your friend’s website. Nothing more that gets under my skin than you doing this! It’s despicable. Now this tells me your interest is somewhere else.
If you are trying to help promote your friend’s website, this is *not* the place for you. I did not construct my website so you can promote here just anybody.
There is a reason why I included a Blog in my website and that is to create relationship with my readers and engage in a better level. If you are here just to have backlinks then *shakes head* YOU BETTER TAKE A HIKE!!! Because I am not interest engaging with you!
