The good ol’ days are gone with Hostgator!
Hostgator just changed their owner and EIG (Endurance International Group) took over. According from what I heard someone said in Linkedin that it is now owned by the worst hosting service company in the world!
Two months ago my DNS was changed to something else. I had no idea that it was changed from Hostgator to EIG in Utah. And though I haven’t experienced bad customer service yet, a lot of people in Linkedin are upset about this. And so I did a little research on my own. And this is what I found out. The link below is two months old.
Read the horrifying news: BlueHost, HostGator, HostMonster, and JustHost Blackout On EIG Utah Servers
I had no idea that the CEO was changed and why Hostgator didn’t inform me about this. It was just this sudden change without me knowing what the heck is going on behind these companies.
EIG is the world largest hosting company. They own about 50+ hosting services.
Check out in Wikipedia all of the hosting services they own HERE. So all of the hot and famous hosting service such as BlueHost, HostMonster, JustHost, including HostGator are now owned by EIG.
Dave Navarro from Linkedin announced this 8 days ago in WordPress Experts community: I Can No Longer Recommend Hostgator
…and that’s how I found this information. I kept ignoring it in the beginning but the issue keeps coming back to me. So finally I decided to read the post and I was shocked. The BEST hosting service company that everyone praised for NO longer exist. And since EIG took over, everyone experience bad customer service. The backbone of Hostgator wasn’t only how good & reliable it was but it was because of excellent customer service and that’s how they survived for many years and now THIS.
I am sad to say that I really don’t want to move but if I have to, I have to.
That means that when I move my DNS will change and so as my SERP (search engine results page). I am bummed out about this and so far I don’t know what to do other than I just need to calm down and think.
I don’t want to take action yet but I don’t want to wait the last minute either when my blog is down!
Seems like this scenario repeat its history. I remember when I was in Livejournal when it used to run smoothly. It was owned by a young college kid. Then suddenly it became popular. Next thing we knew he was selling us to the Russians. So many rumors came up as if we were being sold to the KGB (formerly the predominant security police organization of Soviet Russia), those who hates freedom of speech.
And since we were live journalists who always speaks for ourselves…there goes the fear! Lots of us jump off the wagon. I read post after post. I don’t want to do that again. What is the truth? What is the fact? I’m trying to analyze this in a reasonable manner.
What hosting service do you have and what can you recommend?
So what do you think? If you have any feedback regarding this matter, please don’t be afraid to speak up. I’m all ears.
Do you think if I move from one server to the other, will this affect my Google indexing. This is the one that worries me the most. Please advice.
