I never thought I would get into the Email Newsletter!
When I started my website, I never thought I would get myself doing this. I’ve seen so many companies out there always trying to sell me their products and I guess I was just very turned off seeing any newsletter in my email inbox. Then AWeber came along!
Anyone who mentions my name gets my attention fast.
I never thought I could personalize my newsletter and make it sound like I’m only talking to one person. It’s a wonderful idea. Like I mention so many times before, Adrienne Smith is my model and mentor. I look up to her and I love her newsletter! And so I just follow her footsteps. Of course, I don’t say the same thing. But I do copy her format and style of doing my personalization.
Pros of Personalization
I think personalized newsletter is good because I have a few people who engage with me back and forth via email. Although they never made a comment on my blog, they always read my post. And so, personalizing my newsletter gets me creative in a way. What to say in my newsletter. I don’t want to make it sound like I’m talking to the whole crowd. Unless I’m talking about something specific and I’m targeting certain people. But I do like the outcome on my email personalization.
Cons of Personalization
Some say that if the newsletter mentioned your name then perhaps they are spammers. Or it’s unreal and not true. But I don’t feel that way. I have 3-4 regular newsletters which I follow religiously and I don’t feel like they are spamming me if they ever mentioned my name. In fact, I like it. Makes me feel like they’re talking to me personally. Different people have different style.
Some clicks and some do not. Perhaps it’s just me.
I love mentioning the name of my readers from time to time. It makes it more interesting and less boring. Little things like my reader’s preference of how they want to be called, it’s a minor thing. If my subscriber preferred to be called Bob rather than Robert, then he should’ve put Bob when he signed up for my newsletter. It’s that simple.
So far so good. My list is growing slowly but surely. I guess it takes time in everything. I like the gradual growth on my email list and the traffic on my blog. Just remember that your email list are the serious people who could be your customer someday!
