You created a blog and so you need a gravatar.
You can see an example of a gravatar here. Hover your mouse on your empty photo and it should say “Edit My Profile” but it leads you back to your Dashboard and you don’t know where to go, how to put a photo on your gravatar.
Here’s what you need to do:
- go to: http://codex.wordpress.org/How_to_Use_Gravatars_in_WordPress
- click on “registered with Gravatar”
- it should be self-explanatory from there!
Why do I need a gravatar?
Here is my gravatar. Everytime I comment on someone’s blog, this gravatar shows up! It’s good to have your photo there instead of that boring “G.” Don’t you think?
Many of the bloggers can mistake you as a spammer just because you didn’t have your photo there. This is a social media, right?
So why hide! Show your photo so you can interact with fellow bloggers. If you use Yahoo! email just to comment on someone’s blog and you’re only doing this on a ONE time basis, it may be alright. But if you are considering blogging seriously, you NEED to use the gravatar.
Majority of my blogger friends use gravatar, so join us and use yours too!
On this gravatar you can include:
- your main contact email
- your skype (if you have one!)
- verified services such as: web, twitter, google+
- you can write include what you do on that “about me” section
- on the bottom you can put your “personal links” such as your blog
Sometimes, when you answer someone’s blog, people check that little “chat” icon thingy on the TOP right hand side and your little photo appears. And if they see that little “G” instead of your photo, some might suspect you’re a spammer. So the photo in your gravatar is always a good idea! Anyway, I hope this post helps you create your blog.
Important Note: Make sure you use the same email address when you comment on someone’s blog. The email address you used on your Gravatar Profile should be the same one you use when you comment on someone’s blog; otherwise your gravatar will not show!
