Concentrate on what you’re good at…
When I first heard the paid social media jobs, I joined every single social media I could think of. Facebook. YouTube. Twitter. Linkedin. Pinterest. Tumblr. Google+. You name it. I was there! And the next thing I knew I was so overwhelm I almost quit. I just wanted to do it all in just a short time. I had three websites going. Designs after designs. Sleepless nights. Frustration after frustration. Yeah, I’ve been there and it’s wasn’t pretty!
Although I had been familiar with Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, I didn’t know how to use it for business. I know how to use it for my own personal use but not the business side. I had to learn all these on facebook. Created my business fan page through my own personal profile. Tested my business to see if I could gain likes for 3-days. I have done the business campaign. I’ve gained more likes by word of mouth than advertising.
Concentrate on the best platform you like best…
For me, Google+ works the best for my business. It’s even better than Facebook. Knowing that Facebook used to be my number one favorite platform. But I find Google+ growing so rapidly. A lot of professional people are using this more and more. It’s easier than Tumblr or Pinterest. I have both of these but I don’t really use them that much. Even Twitter.
On Twitter, I have actually increased my followers there from 14 to 300 in 7 days! In Linkedin, I have increased my connections from 24 to 500+ in 10 days! It wasn’t that hard. But do I used them a lot. Linkein is probably better than Twitter. So far Twitter is no use to me, I’m not sure how many people are getting my message there coz I don’t get any feedback whatsoever. But in Linkein, at least the community I’ve joined in when I participated, a lot of them make comments and connect with me. So I love Linkein. Best social media I like are: Google+, Linkein, & Facebook.
Try to master each social media slowly and do not overwhelm yourself by joining every single one of them because you’ll end up quitting. Choose the best platform you like to use and go from there. Don’t add people you don’t know. But by adding them gradually as you become more acquainted in the community, participated more in a discussion, your audience becomes more “quality” vs. quantity. When I first joined in Google+ I’ve added hundreds of people I didn’t know. I ended up deleting all of them and started over again. Now I feel a lot happier I have more quality people rather than quantity of people I have no idea who & what they are.
When you see an advertisement that you can make money within 14 minutes, obviously this is nothing but a LIE. I mean c’mon be more realistic! That sounds definitely an upsell trying to get you to join and suck your money. So take it slow. You can make money being a social media manager but not in 4 days. Takes more than 4 days to learn new things, specially if you haven’t experience anything online such as Facebook, Twitter, & YouTube, it’s impossible to make money in 4 days! But if you concentrate on doing what you love online, sky is the limit!
